When the forests along the Amazon’s banks become submerged in over 10 metres of water, manatees, arapaimas and other riverine creatures take the cue to gorge themselves on the forest’s abundant resources and build fat reserves. These reserves will tide them over the dry season, when food is scarce.

Growing brood
On display for the first time in Asia, the giant river otters are social animals that form close-knit family groups. Come cheek-to-cheek with Chico and Carla or their younger siblings through the viewing tunnel, or take a peek at them at the sandbank on the upper level when they’re having their afternoon siesta.
River otters have nine different calls. Keep an ear out for their animated conversations!
